Effect of Stereotyping in Physical Appearance to People's Success

Personal appearance, according to sociologists, has an influence in a person's success. They claim that because of their physical appearance, some people have more advantages than others. Women with physical problems and an undesirable physical appearance are unfairly discriminated against during these selections since they are deemed unfit, something they did not choose. Women who are believed to be less attractive may be discriminated against if they are stereotyped based on their physical appearance (Macrae et al, 1996).
